Why I love walking and you should too!

Walking is good for you. Taking time out to be outside and in nature is very beneficial for your mental health.  We often forget to look up and see the beauty in the present moment but regular walking when you allow yourself to be present and aware of what’s around you – sounds, smells, colours and textures - modifies your nervous system to help decrease negative feelings.

Walking has the ability to restore and preserve your muscular health too! Walking gets the blood pumping back to the heart by strengthening your venous system that relies on muscles, veins and valves in your feet and legs. That’s why I love walking!

If you’re looking to clear out those cobwebs and get the creative juices flowing then a walk could be just what you need.  Why not take a friend out on a walk with you? Taking a friend can provide even more calming benefits from the added interaction.

But remember, to look up, look around, be present and see the beauty of spring all around you.

Here’s a route I walked at Bushey Park recently and where I met the most beautiful parrot with its owner.
